The Lightning Thief
by Rick Riordan
Imagine having TV in your head! That is exactly what I saw when I read Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. It was so vivid and magical. The words seemed to leap off the page and dance around in my head. This book is truly genius. I encourage everyone to read this book. It sets your imagination free. The book was very different from the movie and has more mysteries and secrets. The movie was fantastic, but doesn’t include a BIG surprise that the book offers! It also changes the quest into a search for pearls which are given to them in the book. For the people who saw the movie but didn’t read the book, the movie left out exciting details like when they left Percy’s mom with Hades instead of Grover. Also Persephone isn’t supposed to be in the movie because it is summer! The book offers exciting, scary, and sad moments that hold secrets the movie doesn’t have. I recommend you read the book before you see the movie because you can understand what Percy’s quest is about and understand the characters and what they are. So go to the library and start your own quest by checking out The Lightning Thief!
